A global pharma behemoth needed to improve performance across the entire manufacturing value chain, covering freight control, shop floor analytics, economic order quantity, quality governance, inventory insights and end-to-end transparency. Its TechOps team planned an Insights Center that could enhance the overall digital ecosystem and generate reliable insights in real time.

Altimetrik co-created the platform with the client’s technical operations teams, building a single source of truth from multiple sources and platforms including Inet and SAP. The result: a 6x reduction in waiting time for batch processing, a 32% cost saving through optimized energy usage and end-to-end visibility based on data the client could trust.

The client needed to improve performance across the entire manufacturing value chain for operations such as freight control, shop floor analytics, economic order quantity, quality governance, inventory insights and end-to-end transparency.

The TechOps team planned an Insights Center that could generate reliable insights in real time to optimize processes across the value chain. The backbone to it was a single source of truth for all the data being generated from various touch-points across the chain, including those connected by IoT.

Altimetrik practitioners went deep into the end-to-end process, looking into the existing data lake and the data governance architecture that led to full transparency, automation and predictive analytics. Data was sourced from multiple sources and platforms such as Inet, SAP and others.

Altimetrik partnered with the client’s technical operations teams to co-create a platform that became the single source of information for data-driven decisions across end-to-end manufacturing processes. The platform was divided into two main categories, with a third created for enabler products.

Supply chain

• EOQ, to take data-driven decisions on minimum supply order quantities
• Inventory Insights, a one-stop shop for an in-depth view of inventory data to support decisions on optimizing inventory
• Freight Optimizer, giving a view of advanced analytics for continuous optimization in global warehousing and transportation/distribution

Manufacturing and quality

• Onsite, a detailed view of manufacturing sites with advanced analytics for real-time decisions, also managing tier meetings digitally
• Shopfloor Edge Analytics, connecting manufacturing site equipment with IoT solutions and empowering the site with real-time analytics
• Quality Analytics, providing real-time analytics to monitor quality with a complete overview of the respective site and country

Altimetrik went deep into the end-to-end process and worked through the existing data lake and data governance architecture, co-creating the platform with the client’s technical operations teams so the insights rested on data that could be trusted.

With the SSOT in place, the Insights Center gave the client end-to-end visibility and insights based on data it could trust, serving as the foundation for ongoing development.
